QUINTESSENTIAL DIVE BURGER.
This place is SO DIVEY but the grill is seasoned to perfection. I haven't been here in 6 years & everything in Nashville is changing so I was nervous Brown's would be different or gone. It's exactly the same. So delicious. -

A true Nashville diner and bar. This place is filled with history and culture. They have one beer on tap and that's Budweiser. The burgers are better than In-n-Out and the fries are on par. I never knew this place existed until today, but I will be back often.

This place, Rotier's, and the Wendell Smith Restaurant are all alike in that they are like stepping back into 1970. Enjoy Brown's while you can. That property is way more valuable than whatever the diner brings in. It will be a mixed use commercial property soon enough.
This is a short menu. It's basic order is a cheese burger & fries. A bowl of chili if you have time to take a nap. I think they have grilled cheese, chicken fingers, and soup in certain winter months.
Browns is a dying breed but still very busy at lunch. Plan accordingly. -

So this place doesn't look like much on the outside. We actually almost didn't go in, but I'm glad we did. The burgers and chili cheese fries were so good. Our waitress was sweet and very helpful. I would definitely go back!

Visited Brown's Diner based on a recommendation from Vince Gill. We Ubered there and thought we were at the wrong place. The outside is a little run down and sketchy looking. But we decided not to judge a book by its cover, and there were some fancy cars in their parking lot so we thought we would still give it a try.
We walked around to the front side of the building and walked into the bar entrance. Boy did we feel out of place. Several locals sat around tables and at the bar and glanced up giving us the once over. Finally an employee told us the dining room was back behind the bar.
Once we seated ourselves we felt a little more comfortable. The menu is basic diner food - burgers, catfish, hotdogs, etc.
We ordered the burgers and fries and were not disappointed. Very yummy. The catfish was okay. The coleslaw and hush puppies weren't great. Our waitress gave us some good tips on parts of town to visit. She was nice and authentic.
Not the best food we had during our stay, but it was good and was definitely the most memorable experience.
